Most office work we do is refurbishment rather than shell and core, which means the client's staff are still in the building. The Boohoo head office café was built on the fifth floor of a fully occupied building; the PrettyLittleThing reception and breakout space is the first thing every visitor to that head office sees.
Working in an occupied building changes the job. Deliveries are scheduled around the working day, noisy works are contained to agreed windows, dust and fire compartmentation are managed continuously, and the escape routes stay open the whole time.

Dust and fire compartmentation are managed continuously, escape routes stay open the whole time, and the floors around the works carry on as though nothing is happening.
